Life on the ceiling in Samarkand

If you were a fly on the wall (or perhaps ceiling) then Uzbekistan has more beautiful ceilings than you will find anywhere in the world. I spent the last few days gazing up at incredibly ornate masterpieces of geometric eccentricities that would impress any fly anywhere. In between ceilings I gazed at also amazing walls, Hasan wearing strange hats, bread sellers on the trains, children, grandmothers, women at the bazaars white doves and small ascetic religious men who were themselves ancient monuments. Many thanks to our tireless host Sofia Kim.
